Travellers Aid is now recruiting Mobility Assistants for an exciting new initiative at Melbourne Airport! Be part of a team that makes a real difference, offering a helping hand to passengers who may have mobility needs, feel anxious about flying, or are juggling family travel. As a Mobility Assistant, you’ll help create a smoother, more supportive airport experience for everyone.
About the Role
Mobility Assistant
Join the crew that turns challenging journeys into moments of care, from welcome arrivals to stress-free departures.
Mobility Assistants support passengers at Melbourne Airport by guiding or transporting them via power wheelchair, electric buggy, or personal assistance between terminals, check-in counters, transport options, and baggage carousels. You’ll work in a fast-paced, dynamic airport environment, both indoors and outdoors, and be part of a purpose-driven team that helps travellers move with dignity and confidence.
- Melbourne Airport Tullamarine (landside only)
- 6am to 10pm, 7 days per week (shifts approx. 5 hours)
- Casual or part-time
- Training provided for power wheelchair and buggy operations
- First Aid training provided if not already held
- Subsidised parking and discounted Skybus tickets
What You'll Do
- Provide travel assistance using manual or power wheelchairs, buggies, or by guiding passengers
- Greet passengers and proactively respond to bookings for mobility support
- Assist travellers between check in or baggage claim and their transport (Uber, taxi, car park etc)
- Represent Travellers Aid with professionalism, care and compassion
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in customer service.
- Physically capable of walking and standing for extended periods
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
- Willing to conduct Police and Working with Children Checks
- Willingness to undergo disability awareness and safety training
- Empathetic by nature, you find joy in creating moments of connection and support.
- Happy to work a mix of mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
